Consultant Rheumatologist in Independent Private Practice, Lister Hospital, Chelsea and Chelsea Consulting Rooms, Chelsea

I left the NHS in 2004, to be independent rheumatology consultant. This has allowed me to devote more time to my patients and treat them in a holistic manner, which I find more satisfying on a professional level.
Currently, I work in private medical rooms at the Chelsea Consulting Rooms and at the Lister Hospital Chelsea. I see people with a wide range of rheumatological conditions including osteoporosis, pain due to degenerative and inflammatory arthritis, soft tissue rheumatism (including frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, trigger finger, carpal tunnel syndrome, trochanteric bursitis and tendonitis), gout, low back pain and neck pain, work related upper limb pain.
I have set up a ‘one stop’ Osteoporosis Clinic and new Osteoporosis Intravenous Injection Clinic (Wednesdays at the Lister Hospital). Patients may choose to be treated with the three monthly (ibandronate) or yearly injections (zoledronic acid) for osteoporosis.I also have an interest in new biological therapies for Rheumatoid Arthritis. My MD thesis research was on ‘scleroderma and the gastrointestinal system’. I carried out further research on osteoporosis and gout. We also offer a new technique of Osmic acid synovectomy for persistent arthritis of the knee.
Within my rheumatology practice, I work closely with other allied medical professionals such as a physiotherapist, podiatrist, nutritionist, cranial osteopath and acupuncturist.
Within the pain treatment setting, I work with other specialists including a spinal surgeon, pain specialist and interventional radiologists.
