Dr Stephanie Kaye Barrett M.B.C H.B, M.D, FRCP GMC No. 2825957
Dr Stephanie Kaye Barrett (formerly Dr Stephanie Kaye), is a consultant physician and rheumatologist with over twelve years of consultant grade experience and expertise.
She was appointed as a consultant physician and rheumatologist in 1996, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where she set up a new medical team and specialist clinics in rheumatology. The specialist clinics cover complex rheumatoid arthritis (using the latest anti-TNF drugs), osteoporosis (including premenopausal and male patients), joint injection and a combined-expert hand clinic (with the consultant hand surgeon) and a combined-expert shoulder clinic. Strong links were forged with the spinal surgery and pain management teams.
Dr Kaye Barrett trained junior rheumatology specialist doctors and was appointed Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College School of Medicine in 1997. She completed her postgraduate specialist rheumatology training in West London, at St Mary’s, West Middlesex, Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals, and the Chelsea and Westminster. Prior to this, she was awarded an ARC Junior Clinical Fellowship to research the gastrointestinal manifestations of scleroderma at the Royal Free Hospital, achieving an MD thesis on this subject.
Dr Kaye Barrett left the NHS in 2004, motivated by a wish to work on a smaller scale and at a more personal level with her patients and with a great sense of gratitude for all the training and excellent opportunities for teamwork the NHS had provided. She works in the Chelsea Consulting Rooms and at the Lister Hospital, with a network of consultant colleagues and practitioners. Tatler magazine listed her in the UK’s top 250 best private doctors in 2006 and 2007. Dr Kaye Barrett is referred to, both nationally and internationally, for the treatment of painful musculoskeletal disorders.
